Transformation Happens…Just Takes Time

In order to see where I am now, you need to know a little about where I came from. I come from a family where the only thing that mattered was what you did for the family. All they wanted was to take, and all I knew to do was give. So I gave until I felt hollow and had nothing left to give. By the time I was 13, I didn’t believe I would live to see 18. I lived by the dream of a soulmate out there and the inconvenience my death would cause my family. Finally, one day when I was 23, I had enough. Something had snapped and I ran away. I had gone to an aunt who I thought would help. But instead, all she knew was how to take too. So I fell into a cycle of giving again and the light didn’t seem to exist anymore. My aunt demanded I see a therapist as she didn’t want my “issues” to affect her kids but also swore if my “issues” were too bad, she would toss me onto the street. But in the end, this was my escape to a new start.

Through my therapist and caseworker, I was introduced to Love INC. I didn’t have much hope, and I was terrified. I was so afraid that change would make things worse somehow. But instead, I was met with so much support and care. Through Love INC, I found myself and healed to where I could function as a functional human being. Thanks to Love INC, I was able to thrive. I recovered my financial side from the damage done by my family, I went to and graduated college, I even went on vacation on my own twice! Things I never dreamed of before meeting the amazing people from Love INC.

Now, I am on my way to buying my own home, and I am actually planning a future for myself. For someone who didn’t plan to live past 18, I now dream of a future full of hope, love, and happiness. I am truly happy. So to the Love INC staff, thank you for all of your amazing and hard work. Even if you can’t see it, you do make a difference. You save so many people and show them the love and faith they maybe didn’t know existed before. God’s love shines through each one of you so brightly.

As for those who are just starting their Love INC journey or in the middle of it, here is some advice. You will stumble, trip, and even fall. But Love INC will support you each step and fall. Try your best and believe in Love INC, if you can’t believe in yourself. Change can be scary, but you know what, it can be exciting too. I’m sure Love INC and even yourselves, are so excited to see how you change your story and what this next chapter holds for you. This isn’t the end, not even close, so make it a story worth living.
