Birthday Blessing

We received a phone call from a woman who lives alone. She is very cautious that she takes great care of her property. In the recent storms, 2 of her shingles blew off of her roof. It was concerning to her with winter coming. She proactively contacted several local agencies that were not able to help for various reasons. Once she talked with us we assured her that we would look into options. We were able to verify the situation with a family member of hers who had also seen the 2 shingles (which were found in the yard) and could also identify the area they were missing from on the peak of the roof. This home is two stories and it can be intimidating for many being so high which is why family was unable to help. We contacted a local man/Love INC volunteer who owns a construction company and works alongside his team daily. Upon explaining the request, he stated that he would personally make sure it was taken care of.

We called the woman to share his name and let her know that he would be in touch so that he could stop by to take a look at the situation. She was beyond thrilled. It was her birthday that day…and this was such great news! It got even better! He stopped by that very day and was able to complete the minor repair on the roof. She was elated!

When we talked with the volunteer to find out how it went, amount of time involved, and to again say thank you, his response was “Thank you for giving me the opportunity to help!” That’s the kind of heart our Love INC volunteers have!
